Dear Friends,

We all need special places in our life. Places to gather and build community, to celebrate, to reflect, to worship and remember all the important people that have touched us and passed on.

Early settlers in Cook County understood the need for such places and in 1902 carved out a spot in the wilderness to build the Maple Hill Church. This church became their gathering place to reflect, honor and celebrate the important moments in life.

In 1986 the old church burnt to the ground. The community, realizing the importance of this iconic site, drew on the inspiration of those who came before and rebuilt the church with dedication, resolve and significant hard work. The beautiful church that resulted mirrored the original design. It is a testament to the desire to maintain heritage and to meet the need for a sacred spot to gather for weddings, funerals, and reflection.

Almost forty years have passed since the community came together for the Old Maple Hill Church. Over these decades, the old church has continued to be a spot for the community to build memories. Many have celebrated weddings, honored loved ones, christened children, and built community.

With time, the siding of the old church has badly deteriorated and desperately needs replacement, as well as importantly installing new walkway pavers to ensure safe entrance to the church. It is time to come together again as a community to help restore the old church. The small Board of Directors of the Old Maple Hill Church is seeking to raise $35,000 in community support to add to donations already received and grants sought to restore this cherished building.

Please join us to maintain this beautiful community space and ensure that memories continue to be made at Maple Hill.
